Dr. Moore is a Diplomate in Chiropractic Pediatrics. She participated in the very first program offered in 1993.
It may seem improbable that a baby or young child might need chiropractic care, but consider the physical trauma that children go through, from the arduous birth process to the numerous falls from learning to walk, and a child’s rigorous activity on a playground. They are constantly twisting, bending, stretching, dodging and pulling.
Over the length of her career, Dr. Moore has had the honor of adjusting thousands of babies first by treating the mom while expecting, as well as the newborn immediately after birth. What an amazing way to begin life with the entire nervous system working to the absolute best of its ability!
Pediatric care consists of using the Webster Turning Technique should the baby present breech in utero to teaching new mom’s proper burping techniques in order to avoid long sleepless nights with colic. Cranial molding is very important. With very light touch, normal smooth position and movement of the bones of the head is attained. No need to put a newborn in a helmet! We teach the moms and dads how to do this technique, and they are amazed at quick changes.
Should you vaccinate your child?
If you have questions about whether or not you will vaccinate your newborn infant, let’s have a conversation. First, it is extremely important for the new parents to be on the same page. Frequently, I have seen prior to conception as well as birth, the couple agrees that one of them will take the decision-making roll on these type decisions.
My children were not vaccinated. There was no issue with school and overall, I would definitely make the same choice. Clinically speaking, we will support the family with whatever they decide is best for them.
If the family chooses to vaccinate, I do like a waiting period to allow the newborn to adjust to its new environment. There is a nice option to request the shots a done individually as opposed to 3-4 at one time, with a bit of time in between injections.
